AT247 ultra-rapid insulin
Arecor Therapeutics
What it is
Arecor's U100 ultra-rapid insulin formulation, designed to accelerate absorption after injection or pump delivery and better match meal physiology. Early phase 1 results were reported positive and pump-delivery testing has been studied, but no phase 3 program or approval exists.

Evidence behind this assessment
Key evidence notes. Study results, product eligibility and access answer different questions.
- Who was studied?
- Study populations and analysis groups vary. Product age limits alone do not describe who was studied.
- Benefit or performance
- Consistency: Only early clinical datasets exist; day-to-day variability in broad real-world pump use is unproven.[2]
- Important harms and treatment burden
- Read the safety discussion and original sources. A missing summary does not establish safety.
- Approval and country access
- Country-specific approval and access are not summarized in this record.Approval, trial recruitment, local supply and funding are separate. Check the cited label or access source.
- Follow-up and remaining uncertainty
- Read the full discussion and original sources for follow-up duration and study limitations.
Research status alone does not establish approval, clinical benefit or local availability. This record cites company or conference reports. Those sources may describe interim findings; their source type is shown in the source list.
Editorial score: calculation and evidence
A weighted editorial judgment on a 0–100 scale, not a probability of success or a measured treatment effect. Higher criterion scores mean more favorable assessments.
Default calculation: 82 × 20 + 78 × 25 + 58 × 15 + 45 × 20 + 45 × 10 + 5 × 10 = 5860; divide by total weight 100. Unrounded weighted result: 58.6.
AT247 is specifically engineered for faster absorption than current rapid analogs and has reported positive early phase 1 data, with pump-delivery testing initiated in a US phase 1 trial.[2]
The formulation aims to front-load insulin exposure for meal physiology; detailed head-to-head commercial-label outcomes are not available.[3]
Faster absorption should reduce late insulin action, but clinically proven tail shortening is not established.[3]
Only early clinical datasets exist; day-to-day variability in broad real-world pump use is unproven.[2]
A faster profile could help exercise planning, but exercise-specific outcomes have not been reported.[1]
Insulins are scored relative to their role peers (see tags: rapid, ultra-rapid, basal, inhaled). A basal insulin's onset score compares it to other basals, not to mealtime insulins.
The full picture
AT247 is the U100 sibling to Arecor's concentrated AT278 program. It matters because current AID systems are held back by insulin pharmacology: algorithms can decide quickly, but injected insulin arrives slowly. AT247 is trying to shrink that lag. The limitation is development maturity: interesting early data, no late-stage T1D outcomes, and no announced phase 3 or approval timeline yet.
